I first met Neel & Soudee last year when photographing their beautiful engagement ceremony in Virginia. Then in February of this year, we traveled to Soudee’s hometown of Visakhapatnam for their fantastic week long destination wedding in India.
On banks of the Bay of Bengal on the east coast of India, the travel time from Raleigh, including layovers, was about 40 hours. But the energy of the city and the people got me out of any jet lag or flight fatigue I might have had.
Almost all the events took place The Park Hotel (except for one of Soudee’s ceremonies which was at her parents home). The hotel was beautiful and the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. More importantly, I can’t say enough nice things about both Soudee and Neel’s families. The level of kindness and generosity they extended was second to none. I can’t thank them enough for such an amazing experience!
One thing to note when looking at the photos – the wedding ceremony itself was after the reception. It was a full South Indian ceremony, which lasted from 11:30pm to 3:30am the next morning. This is a little different than we’re accustomed to here in the US, but commonplace there.

It was dark. Sunset was around 5:20 or so, and this was at about 6:30pm – so night/dark. 50mm, 1.4, 3200, 1/125
