Small weddings are awesome and intimate, and even more so when it’s family. A ways past Asheville, NC and deep in the Smokies, Debbie’s cousin David got married to his love Michelle, overlooking rain filled clouds on the edge of a mountain at Castle Ladyhawke.
With family coming in from North & South Carolina, Florida, and New York, we spent the day casually getting ready before deciding to risk a rain out for an outdoor ceremony. With a watchful eye over the clouds, the ceremony concluded minutes before a massive storm hit as we finished the religious portion of the event under cover of the castle’s patio. As always, dramatic weather gives way to dramatic photos, and this was no exception. The post rain fog was amazing, and aside from fogging up lenses and sensors, you couldn’t ask for more.
Fantastic toasts from David’s son and Michelle’s sister led to an amazing dinner and a beautiful first dance. And perhaps the best part was hanging out with everyone after the wedding, under the mountain night sky, talking about the day, the perils of Portugal’s national team, the bizarre rules of a strange game called “boo-ya”, and life in New York City.
You just can’t beat mixing work with family. Cheers to David & Michelle as they move forward together into the end of summer. Let’s check out some photos:
