David & Jill: Wedding Photography at Hanover Park Vineyard in Winston-Salem, NC
I’ve had the best time with David & Jill over the past year. From the fantastic time we had in Black Mountain near Asheville, NC to the bridal shoot with Jill & her parents at Reynolda Gardens, it’s just been such a great year getting to know everyone and taking the photos. And it all came together a few weeks back at their wedding ceremony at Highland Presbyterian in Winston-Salem, NC and reception at Hanover Park Vineyard in Yadkinville, NC.
I think back to how cool it was meeting everyone in person a year ago at Hanover Park Vineyard. Jill’s parents, David’s parents, the awesome wedding planner Jamie Southern, Amy Helton of the Vineyard – they were all there. We talked about first look, about cocktail hour, the band – and it all worked out perfectly.
We had an awesome first look on the greenway outside of Old Salem. We shuttled over to Highland Presbyterian for a great bright church wedding, and came back to the Hanover for cocktail hour where a folk Americana band picked at a banjo and guitar while guests from as far away as New Orleans huddled around iPads watching to see if Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome could sweep for the Triple Crown. Drinks, banjos, horse races, bowties and a wedding gown all at a vineyard in June – doesn’t get any cooler than that, does it?
My hat’s off to Jill & David’s parents and family for being so cool and fun. We mixed New Orleans with North Carolina. Shag dance vs. New Orleans style. Jill’s older brother Andrew was doing the New Orleans traditional mop dance (it’s tough being older and unmarried, you have to dance with a mop – and can I say, New Orleans has more crazy cool traditions than anywhere in the world). Jill’s parents for showing how small the world is by finding out that they taught my wife and her good friend Computer Science at ASU (not App, but Arizona State) back in the day – but not THAT far back in the day lol.
Of course it should go without saying that the bridal party and friends were all equally as cool and fun. We had a great time under the Edison lights David hung over the dance floor, while some played cornhole outside. Let’s not get long winded -there are photos to check out. Cheers to David & Jill as they move forward as a married couple :)
