Dinner at Dame’s Chicken & Waffles and a very cool E shoot (both in Durham) last year got me ready for Chris & Janine’s wedding on a perfect late spring afternoon in May at Prime 1705 in Raleigh, NC. A mix of friends and family from the local area and from New York set the scene for what was a great bit of 80’s party and bar scene socializing.
Before the party, Robin Renteria officiated a beautiful ceremony shaded by the large oak in the front of 1705. One thing which did stand out for everyone was the unexplained sirens which started before Janine entered the ceremony. As they got closer and Raleigh Fire Truck and EMS pulled into the parking lot of 1705 right at the ceremony site. Once they pulled in, they cut their sirens off, did a three point turn, waved at everyone, gave the Fire Truck a few honks, and pulled out and left. For the casual observer, like myself, this was just a random occurrence. But for Janine’s family, this became an unexplained – or a clearly obvious sign – that Janine’s uncle, who was a firefighter in NY and had passed at an early age, just wanted to let everyone know he was there.
And that really set the pace for what this wedding was all about. Lots of love set to the backdrop of classic songs from the 80s. From a really nice first dance to some great toasts to the bang out dance party which included an endless supply of color, lights and bubbles, Chris & Janine brought out the best and most entertaining sides of their friends and family. It couldn’t have been any better and I was jazzed to be part of the day. Click through the photos to see, and cheers to Janine and Chris on finding each other :)
