It’s always nice to be back in the Triad for a wedding. As you see from the postings, I’m a bit all over the place and a few weekends ago, it was a definite pleasure to be part of Kendall & Phillip’s wedding at the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, NC. I was especially looking forward to the wedding because I had such an awesome time with them in Wilmington, NC back in March where we did an engagement shoot. Looking through the posts, I can’t believe I didn’t blog about it, but, it was definitely an awesome time, and the photos turned out fantastic.
I met up with Phillip & Kendall again at Proximity a few months back to talk about the wedding day. Proximity is an awesome hotel – it is the first LEEDS certified green hotel in the country, and has a fantastic layout. The tone of our day was totally set when a really nice man comes up to chat with us a bit as we’re scoping out the hotel for photo locations. After spending about 10 minutes with us chatting we finally ask how he knows so much about the hotel – “Oh, I’m the CEO”. Sure enough, looking down at his business card, it says : Dennis Quaintance, CEO. I say this because when all you read in the news is negative about CEOs, it is so nice to see a CEO who walks the floor of his business, and takes time out of his day to talk to guests and show genuine interest in hearing about the wedding, talking about the hotel, and pointing out locations we might not know about for photos. A total reflection of this fantastic location.
The wedding day itself went brilliantly. After some getting ready shots with Kendall, I went over to the guys to see them hanging out watching football (naturally). Looking over at Phillip’s dad, I recognize him, but it takes a quick chat about ACC teams, and I realize, oh man, Phillip’s dad taught me 2 semesters of Spanish at Wake Forest! At this realization, I suddenly felt 19 and started scrambling for proper Spanish vocab and lit terms. Luckily, I actually did quite well in his class, he was a great teacher, and most likely a former student was low on his priorities given the events of the day…
Amanda Martin at Proximity is the event coordinator and did a fantastic job, Susan Marie of Coordinated Wedding Planning did a great job in making sure everything went smoothly the entire day. Herita of Herita Jones LTD was awesome with makeup and Cookie Music Group busted out the tunes as an awesome band. Also good thanks to my new friend Armin of BG Photography who did some great video work. The super yummy cake was from Maxie B’s in Greensboro, NC
Oh, and how could I forget one of the highlights of the night! You know you’re in for something when you hear a hush fall over the crowd at around 10:30pm and you see the Cookie Music Group queuing something up on the stand, and then you hear the oh so notorious 90s keyboard and “let’s go girls!” and then the next thing you know – the very cool and collected Phillip is front and center with mic in hand, totally busting out Shania’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” – I mean, this was no casual “friends shove you up on stage and you humor them” – my man Phillip was THE man! He sang it with total conviction, and was showing his moves – it was totally great!
Phillip, Kendall, it was a great engagement, an awesome wedding, and don’t worry, the Terps win something from time to time… Congratulations!
