I knew from the rehearsal dinner that this was going to be a FUN weekend – and no doubt, was it ever. We had an awesome dinner at The Sea Catcher in Georgetown with some very interesting conversations about everything from how to visit Santorini, Greece with a friend, to the dating scene in DC, along with great toasts and lots of laughs.
The next morning, I met up with Krystin at The Capitol Hill Suites where she and the girls were getting ready for the ceremony across the street at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. After a great ceremony, Wes, Krystin and the Bridal Party and I all headed out for a very fun tour of some of the sights in DC. We hit the Library of Congress, Capitol Building, Refection Fountain, and took some awesome photos. (Thanks to Wes for his masterful use of the google maps he sent me outlining a tour detail the Secret Service would be proud of).
Oh, while I’m at it – can I say how HARD it is to get around the Mall of DC in the morning when you combine D-Day anniversary along with 80,000 Susan Komen Cancer runners?! OMG – the GPS was going bonkers trying to get me from the Lincoln Memorial to the other side of the Mall behind the Capitol – (don’t get me wrong, runners and D-Day’ers do your thing, I’m just saying… lol)
With the Bridal Party headed to the reception, we did some very cool shots with just Wes & Krystin at the Sculpture Garden where they had their first date, as well as the Washington Monument, WWII Memorial and a few other spots as we headed to the reception.
And can I also say, there is nothing more popular than a bride and groom – well at least Wes & Krystin – in DC – I can’t tell you how many people were honking, taking pictures, stopping to talk – even the tour guide on the open bus was wondering why no one was looking to his left at whatever it was he was talking about – only to see they were all looking to their right, waving and taking pictures of Wes & Krystin – then he noticed and gave them a big shout out lol.
When we got to the reception at Ceresville Mansion I found that Krystin’s dad, an amazing baker by profession had whipped up not only the awesome wedding cake, but an entire 8 foot table of cakes, cookies, cannolis, cheesecakes – let me tell you – there was nothing HARDER than not putting down the camera, just saying forget it, I don’t care what anyone thinks, and just start eating the desserts – GOOD STUFF!
The reception was awesome with tons of great music, lots of dancing, and who could not love the Groomsmen serenading the Groom with that Top Gun classic “You’ve lost that loving feeling”! With tons of love in the air, both Italian style and Louisiana style, everyone was so cool, so nice just mixing it up and having nothing but an awesome time!
Here are a few photos to give you a flavor of how it all went down. And since I don’t have a photo of myself on the website in the “about me” section, I thought I’d include one of me in this group of photos – like I said, it was a good time :) (they always are!)
